Hawaii Food and Wine Festival

The 2015 Hawaii Food and Wine Festival spans two weeks and three islands in this Pacific paradise. More than 100 internationally known food and beverage professionals come together to pack the event with incredible things to eat and drink, as well as tons of fun and educational opportunities.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the already-renowned culinary festival. The 2015 celebration begins on Saturday, August 29 and continues through Sunday, September 13; events are held on nine days throughout this period.

Here are day-by-day highlights from the festival:

Day 1 (8/29)

On August 29, the 2015 Hawaii Food and Wine Festival kicks off on the island of Hawaii with the inaugural event Seven Chefs, One Big Island. It’s a six-course dinner at Hilton Waikoloa Village prepared by seven highly acclaimed chefs.

Day 2 (9/4)

Things move to Maui starting on the second day, which revolves around the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival Roy’s Annual Golf Classic. Attendees, celebrity chefs, winemakers, and golf pros tee off at the beautiful Kaanapali Golf Course. Artisanal foods, craft beers, and cocktails are served all along the way, and the event ends with a dinner at Roy’s Kaanapali.

Day 3 (9/5)

The morning’s Grown on Maui Farmers Market provides opportunities to meet local farmers and food producers at Whalers Village, and of course to sample goods and shop. From 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, attend Moscow Mule Maui Style to learn about and make your own Moscow Mule cocktail. In the evening, nine renowned chefs prepare dinner, served on the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa’s Black Rock lawn for Maui on My Mind.

Day 4 (9/6)

The Legend of Shep Gordon is the signature event on the final day of festivities held on the island of Maui. There’s a six-course dinner in honor of Gordon, the legendary manager of numerous celebrities (including Emeril Lagasse). The meal, held at the Napili Garden at Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, will be prepared by six acclaimed chefs who count Gordon as a friend.

Day 5 (9/9)

On the fifth day, the 2015 Hawaii Food and Wine Festival shifts to Oahu. The Urban Luau pairs five contemporary chefs with local restaurants specializing in traditional Hawaii cuisine to serve modern and traditional versions of well-known dishes for side-by-side comparisons. From 5:00 to 6:00 pm, there’s a seminar called Caviar and Champagne: Cristal, Dom, Krug, and Salon.

Day 6 (9/10)

The Modern Honolulu hosts Chopstix and Cocktails starting at 6:00 pm. Enjoy amazing specialty cocktails, wines, and craft beers direct from their highly respected mixologists, winemakers, and brewers. In addition, 13 world-famous chefs prepare dishes influenced by the cuisines of various Asian nations that eat with chopsticks.

Day 7 (9/11)

Dream Bigger Dreams: Tips of the Trade is the first-ever trade event at the festival, focused on branding in food and beverage industries. Then, five master chefs pair gourmet food and fine wines at the Fifth Annual Halekulani Culinary Masters Gala Series: Indulge. Wrap up the day at the Chef’s Private After Party, enjoying craft beer, cocktails, and spirits while dancing and mingling with some of the festival’s star participants.

Day 8 (9/12)

Start the day with yoga followed by snacks and cocktails at Après Yoga: After Savasana, There is Sake. The family outing Keiki in the Kitchen: Food, Fitness and Fun runs from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at the Honolulu Zoo. It offers meetings with celebrity chefs, cooking demonstrations, food from some of Hawaii’s best food trucks, a fitness challenge, live entertainment, and more. Corks and Forks Pacific Coast is the evening’s wine tasting, which also features gourmet foods, craft beer and cocktails, an art exhibit, and a silent auction. Two wine seminars, a champagne seminar, and a cocktail party mixology seminar will also be held.

Day 9 (9/13)

On the last day of the 2015 Hawaii Food and Wine Festival, enjoy the Battle of the Brunch Showdown at SHOR at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa. The festival finale, Beauty and the Feast, takes place on the beach and showcases the culinary world of Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa and dishes prepared by 12 celebrity chefs.
