Summer Gets Hotter at the 2015 Tequila and Taco Music Festival

Tequila and Taco Music Festival

On Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23, 2015, the second annual Tequila and Taco Music Festival hits downtown Santa Cruz, California. Gorgeous San Lorenzo park provides the scenic setting for a weekend of great food, drinks, and live music. The fun kicks off both days at 11:00 am and runs until 5:30 pm (all alcohol sales end at 5:00 pm).

Tequila Tasting

The tequila segment of the Tequila and Taco Music Festival takes place only on Saturday until 3:00 pm, and participation requires purchase of $35 per-person Saturday Tequila Experience ticket or a $40 per-person Premiere Two Day Pass (instead of the $10 General Admission two-day pass). A variety of top-shelf tequila and mezcal will be poured for sampling. Represented brands include 3 Crowns, Casa San Matias, Dirty Tequila, Los Tres Tonos, Mala Noche, Modela Especial, Negra Modelo, Pacifico, Patron, and others.

Tacos and Music

The other two-thirds of the festival’s name are available all day, all weekend long. There will be a tasty variety of gourmet and street tacos from area food vendors to satiate and help keep drunkenness at bay. Local bands slated to provide the live soundtrack include Extra Large, who bring Latin- and reggae-infused funk to classic California rock; Kalyde, a fun blend of folk, funk, R&B, reggae, rock, and other influences; Patron Latin Rhythms, playing Latin jazz, Latin rock, Latin funk, mambo, and more; funky rockers The Bomb with Victor Vega; and SambaDà, one of the most popular and talented Brazilian acts around on the West Coast today.

Other Stuff

Craft beers, additional food and beverages, and all sorts of arts and crafts will be available for purchase from local vendors at the 2015 Tequila and Taco Music Festival. On Sunday, the Mas Margaritas event provides a large lineup of refreshing, flavorful, and creative margaritas to sip in the sun while enjoying the live music, fun atmosphere, and picturesque setting.

Festival Rules

Attendees of the 2015 Tequila and Taco Music Festival must be at least 21 years old and have a valid photo ID to prove it to buy or sample alcoholic beverages. Pets, camel packs, coolers, weapons, and drugs are all prohibited, as are balls, Frisbees, and throwing things around other guests’ heads. They won’t let you in with chairs—but blankets are a good idea—and sealed water bottles are the only outside food or drink allowed in. There are no in-and-out privileges at the event. Assuming none of these prohibited items are essential to your ability to have a good time, the festival promises to be a lot of fun.
